Showers
Tiling showers is a Real JC Tile specialty. When it comes to installing tile on your shower wall or floor, we apply quality installation standards that you may not even see.
A common misunderstanding – even among some contractors – is that tile and grout create a waterproof seal. This is not the case. Work done prior to tile installation must be precise and effective to ensure that any water which seep through grout lines find their way down the drain – and not into your wall and subfloor cavities.
Poor and ineffective preparation of the shower wall and floor can turn a minor flaw into major damage to your home! Damage inside a wall or below a floor, caused by a leaky shower, may take years to reveal itself on the surface.
With little recourse, clients call us only after excessive mildew growing at grout joints, damage to sheetrock adjacent to a shower, or even a “soft” shower pan underfoot point to serious trouble. In many cases, a complete remodel is the least expensive remedy!
There are multiple acceptable and Tile Council of North America-approved ways to prepare a shower wall/floor for a quality and beautiful tile installation. Real JC Tile is familiar with each method and will always use appropriate and time-tested methods regardless of tile preference, material location and homeowner budget.
Note: When using a material manufacturer’s complete product line, these suppliers typically offer excellent warranties. Real JC Tile is happy to help you register for such a warranty.
Just as it takes a real professional to bake an attractive and delicious cake, it also takes a real professional to craft a functional and beautiful tiled shower.
When considering a substantial investment like a tiled shower, we urge you to take your time when choosing both the tile itself and the contractor you will hire.
Five important best-practice considerations:
- Does the contractor specialize in shower tile installation?
- What materials are being used for the waterproofing of the substrate?
- Will a Flood Test be performed on the shower pan?
- Does the manufacturer of the installation products offer a warranty?
- Does the contractor offer a warranty on the workmanship?
